Attack Computer Wiz

A Security & Technology Weblog

Over the years I have tested a handful of third party applications that when installed on a BlackBerry enable you to make Skype phone calls. All of these third party application require the use of the phones data and voice plans. Yesterday Verizon and Skype announced that have partnered and will be providing an official Skype application for use on select Verizon devices. This Skype application will allow for free unlimited Skype to Skype calls. You will be able to use the service to make calls to non-Skype numbers using Skype Out rates. You can send and receive instant messages to other Skype users. And, unlike the previous third party applications, the official Skype application uses the phones data plan only.

Supported devices include BlackBerry Storm 9530, Storm 2 9550, Curve 8330, Curve 8530, World Edition 8830 and Tour 9630. Also the Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris, and Motorola Devour.
